Alexia Mell in Maxim Magazine

Alexia Mell is the featured model in a glamour shoot for Maxim.

Maxim is one of the best-known names in men’s publishing, a title that grew from its British origins into a family of editions published around the world. Each edition had its own editors and its own models, but they shared a recognisable look: polished, carefully produced glamour photography presented alongside lifestyle, humour and entertainment pages.

The Maxim look

Compared with the fast weekly titles, Maxim features tended to feel more like fashion shoots. Locations were chosen with care, styling was considered, and the lighting often leaned towards warm, cinematic tones rather than flat studio brightness. A typical spread opened with a bold full-page image, moved through a short sequence of variations and closed with a quieter frame, giving the feature a sense of pacing.

That production value was part of the appeal for models as well as readers. A Maxim appearance carried a certain prestige, and the international reach of the brand meant that a feature in one edition could travel far beyond the country where it was printed.

A shoot that travelled

Alexia Mell’s Maxim feature found its way to glamour readers well beyond its original edition, in the way that many international shoots did once they were scanned and shared online. It is a good example of the glossier end of the genre, where atmosphere and styling matter as much as the model’s presence in front of the camera.
