Rocio Gancedo in Hombre Magazine

Rocio Gancedo appears in a glamour feature for Hombre, one of the titles beyond the British market that this blog kept an eye on.

Much of the glamour coverage on this site centred on the UK weeklies, but the genre was never only British. Men's magazines in many countries ran their own cover shoots and feature spreads, each with its own house style, and readers who followed the scene closely liked to see how a model was presented outside the familiar Nuts and Zoo template. Rocio Gancedo's feature in Hombre fits into that wider picture.

What changes from one market to another is often the tone rather than the substance. Some titles favour bright, sunny location work with plenty of colour; others go for moodier studio lighting and a more fashion-led approach to styling. The pacing of the spread differs too: a weekly tends to run a tight handful of pages, while a monthly can give a model room for a longer sequence and an accompanying piece of writing.

Without reproducing anything from the original issue, it is fair to say a feature like this one would have been a centrepiece for the magazine: a named model, a dedicated shoot and a run of pages built around her. That is the format the glamour pages of the period were built on, wherever they were published.

The photographs from the feature are the property of the magazine's publisher and are not shown here. For other titles covered on the blog, from European monthlies to one-off specials, see the magazines hub.
