Rosie Jones Is the New Face of Big D Nuts
Glamour model Rosie Jones is unveiled as the new face of Big D, the peanut brand.
Some modelling jobs live in magazines; others live behind the bar. Big D nuts belong to the second kind of story. For many British drinkers the brand is tied up with the display cards that hung behind pub counters, a picture of a model slowly revealed as the packets were sold off one by one. Becoming the face of the brand put a model in front of an audience that might never pick up a men’s magazine.
The brand face as a job
Being the face of a product is a different assignment from a magazine spread. A magazine feature has to work for one issue; a brand image may be printed, distributed and displayed for a long time. That pushes the shoot towards clear, friendly images that read instantly from across a room: a strong smile, a simple background, bold colour and nothing that will look dated after a few months.
It also tends to be a team effort between the brand, its agency and the photographer, with the model’s existing following one of the reasons she is chosen in the first place. Announcements of a new face were usually accompanied by a short promotional shoot and a round of coverage in the men’s press.
Part of a wider profile
Rosie Jones was already a name to watch among readers of UK glamour when this role was announced, and the brand deal added a very public, very British line to her portfolio.
The campaign images belong to their owners and are not reproduced here.
